Trap Neuter Return (TNR)

Hyde Park Cats supports community based Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts. We believe TNR is the best, most effective, and most humane way to manage feral and homeless kitties. In TNR the cats are trapped, spayed and neutered, vaccinated and then returned to their outdoor homes. Caretakers provide food and shelter and monitor the cats.

Neighborhood Cats provides a lot of great information on TNR — from getting started to tips for colony caretakers!

Cook County is fortunate to have an ordinance in place which protects the outdoor community cats and the community members who want to help them. PAWS Chicago has TNR resources online and in real life, including a low-cost feral package at the clinic.
