Reports of a crying kitten near Ray school over the past few days led to an ongoing rescue effort. Friday night several volunteers were finally able to trap her, and are now calling her Winter.
The just-rescued tabby has been to the vet and we have learned that she is approximately 8 weeks old.
She has an infection and is running a fever but has been given meds and should be fine.
Her eyes were full of puss and caked over, but once the vet cleaned her eyes Winter was so happy. She talked, let herself be petted and purred. She has also regained her appetite.
Winter is now sleeping in a crate, curled up in a blanket near a heating disc.
In these temperatures, a cat this tiny with an infection and unable to see was not going to last much longer outside. Huge thanks to the rescue team – Fran S, Bronwyn L, Nancy C, Fiona and Will G.
Fran has Winter on an emergency foster basis and Amy SH transported Fran and Winter to the clinic.
And thanks as always to Dr Bailey and her team at Hyde Park Animal Clinic for responding so swiftly, calmly, and helpfully to all the challenges we inevitably send their way!
