Adoptable Maus!

**I am adoption pending!**

Adoptable Maus is a marvelous 10-month old whose nickname is “Little Loverboy” because he is so irresistibly loveable. One of Maus’s favorite moves is his “throwdown routine” in which he drops to the floor and rolls around on his back until he has been petted, belly-rubbed and loved. He actively seeks out affection from humans and animals alike: cuddling ranks high on his list of priorities, and he prefers sleeping in bed cuddled close to his humans throughout the night.

Maus the Little Loverboy is not likely to stay “little” for long: he is long, tall and lean and Dr. Wake predicts that he will be a big cat. His handsome black-and-white markings perfectly suit his amorous demeanor! His fur is shiny and sleek—satin to the touch.

Maus is a leaper who aims to please—ask him to jump, and he’ll ask “how high?” His favorite toys are things that make him fly through the air: whether it’s a bird or bauble attached to a string or a ball flung across the room—Maus enjoys spending time “in the air.”

Maus’s most striking characteristic is his intelligence: he is an incredibly smart cat who could probably be trained for a circus routine! He is an expert soccer player who taught resident cats to entertain themselves and each other by batting crinkle balls back and forth across the floor, and he is always the first of the three to figure out whatever “puzzle toys” get introduced to the house.

Maus is a high-energy junior cat who would do well in a household with children or other cats his age.

  1. Hello and happy Easter! I have two quick questions for you… 1) is Hyde park cats a no-kill shelter? 2) My partner and I have one cat already, but are thinking about getting another. Maus sounds a lot like our current cat from the description, but I’m a little worried about bringing in a new cat and having the two of them not get along… Especially since our cat was declawed by his previous owner. Would it be possible to foster Maus on a sort of “trial run” (with every intention of eventual adoption, of course, just as long as he and our cat don’t totally hate each other)? Either way, please send me an email with details. Thank you for your help and for all the wonderful work you do!

  2. Dear Kelsey, Thanks for your message! We are not a shelter but a network of foster homes based mainly in and around Hyde Park. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization and registered cat rescue. Great to hear you are looking for a 2nd cat, we are big fans of cats having feline companionship. We also have lots of experience with and advice about proper new cat introductions to give them the best chance of becoming friends. Please email us at hydeparkcatsadoptions@gmail.com for an adoption application and hopefully we can set up a meet and greet with Maus soon! We do sometimes do foster-to-adopt arrangements, I will leave that for our adoption coordinator to answer in this case. Thanks! Melissa
