Alfred, the black and white male is a total goof-ball and Dos, the black female is super sweet. They really are cute, and absolutely love the resident dogs in their foster home. They love to curl up and sleep in the Border Collie’s fluffy tail!
Both kittens have been neutered and spayed.
Alfred and Dos both tested positive for FeLV, or Feline Leukemia Virus which they likely contracted from their mother. We test all our foster cats for FIV and FeLV, so this was picked up during a routine test and they are not showing symptoms at this time.
Currently they are happy and healthy and running around like normal kittens. In this case they cannot live with other non-carrier cats but they can live with other immune carriers, and each other of course!
We recently had an FeLV success story — Elise came to us testing positive, but successive tests tested negative, showing her as an immune carrier.
Here is a recent update from Elise in her forever home, where she was paired with Winter, another immune carrier who needed a friend: facebook link here.
For now Alfred and Dos are super playful, typical kittens, and while they are healthy we do not know their future. We are hopeful that some adopter will see that, despite the fact that these kittens may live shorter lives, they still are in need of a loving permanent home.
