Tiny Mortima was rescued from a tree late on Sunday night.
Ty climbed the tree and offered her some food which she happily ate. We then used the food to coax her down the tree until she was at a level which enabled another volunteer to grab her.
How did a kitten this young end up by herself in a park just south of Cornell and 56th, right near busy Lakeshore Drive? We will never know.
But if anyone is in that vicinity, please keep an eye out for any of her littermates.
Was being grabbed by a pair of gloved hands Mortima’s first ever human contact?
We will never know.
What we do know is that Mortimer is glad to be inside, safe and fed, although she is confused at being alone and is calling for her people, feline or human.
We are your people now Mortima: welcome to HPC.
