Naples is one of our newest intakes. He was found wandering in Brighton Park a few weeks ago. He appears to be about 6 months old, and seems to be in good health. He has a ravenous appetite and is full of energy. Naples has an exceptionally gentle temperament and is super-affectionate. He would be best-suited to home where he could receive lots of attention and playtime.

BAKE SALE/CHILDREN’S BOOK FAIR– Sunday, September 21, 12-5pm: Come out for our combination bake sale at Parker’s pet supply store and tabling at the annual Hyde Park Children’s Book Fair in Nicols’ park. Parker’s, a natural dog & cat market is located in Hyde Park at 1340-1342 E 55th St, Chicago, (773) 643-7387. We still need volunteers to help out in a variety of ways, including bake, post flyers ahead of time, table the bake sale, answer questions, etc. This is a great way to get started volunteering with HPC and to meet other members–anyone can help, regardless of experience with HPC. AWL VOLUNTEER DAY– Saturday, September 27, 12-2pm: We have space for 10 volunteers at our monthly volunteer day at the Animal Welfare League’s Intake Facility (AWL), located at 6224 South Wabash. Even though we are going in as Hyde Park Cats volunteers, anyone who wants to visit the dogs (bunnies, too) is welcome to do so–they all need some lovin’! If possible, please bring some much needed items such as newspaper, used (clean) towels, bleach, dish detergent, paper towels, pet toys, food and treats. If you can’t make the visit, you can drop off the items and Parker’s Pets at 1342 E 55th St Chicago, IL 60615 and we will make sure that the items get to AWL. 5K FUN RUN– Sunday, October 5, 9am: In the interest of health, fun, and community spirit, we’re running (and/or walking) the Comer Kids Classic again this year. This is the only 5k based in Hyde Park. If you would like to run or walk with us, be sure to indicate on the registration form that you would like to join team Hyde Park Cats. It was a lot of fun last year (see photo above), and what better time to show off that awesome Hyde Park Cats t-shirt? No fundraising is required. This race benefits Comer Children’s Hospital. ADOPTION EVENT– Saturday, October 11, 11am-2pm: Our next adoption event will be at Kriser’s, a natural and organic pet store, located at 1103 South State Street in the South Loop. This is an opportunity to showcase one or more of our wonderful adoptable cats and to get the word out about HPC. We need volunteers to get the adoptable kitty (or kitties) to and from Krisers, set up/take down tables, interact with Kriser’s customers and distribute HPC flyers.It’s a great establishment and you get to talk to interested individuals about our wonderful kitties–and it’s not far from Hyde Park!
