Adoptable 3-year-old Lily (calico) would do great in a single-cat household with someone who doesn’t need a super cuddly cat (but is open to it should she become more comfortable), doesn’t entertain too much and has a good routine, and is willing to indulge her frisky former-stray energy (she loves to fetch pom-pom balls!)
She can be quite shy and indirect with her affection, but she’s gotten a lot better over time (with some gentle but consistent nudging).
Lily follows her fosterer from room to room, always lying within view (but not too close).
When she does want love, she’ll rub against her fosterer, purring, and leading to the area where she wants to receive pets.
She’s more open to being picked up and held than she used to be – she prefers when it is made an adventure, showing her something she isn’t usually able to see from ground level – and is good at letting you know when her time is up, starting to wiggle out of grasp.
She likes to sleep in bed with her fosterer, usually down by the legs, out of reach but still comfy and warm.
She has responded well to having her boundaries respectfully pushed (ex: leaning over and petting her a little bit while she’s laying on the couch), which has helped her become more comfortable, affectionate, and trusting over time, so patient progress is key for her future adopter and forever home.
